North Star is inspired by the traditional sawtooth star quilt block, a symbol of quiet resilience and craft traditions passed down through generations. Printed with real botanical indigo using a 1,000+ year–old mud-resist technique, this fabric is made in the same region of India where the process originated. Each yard is hand printed by a family-run workshop, continuing skills honed over generations.

Hand-printed on a slightly structured linen cotton blend that feels more midweight and substantial than the organic cotton base. 

As with all hand block-printed textiles, you’ll notice subtle variations in dye and print. Indigo is known to bleed, and because of the labor-intensive printing process, this fabric is available in pre-cuts only.

Care + Expectations

This fabric may arrive with slight printing irregularities and a mild earthy scent—both are normal and part of its handmade charm.

• Wash cold with like colors
• Add a handful of salt to the first wash to reduce fading
• Optional: white vinegar in first wash to help remove scent
• Delicate cycle; hang or lay flat to dry
• Indigo bleeds — always wash with similar tones
