Soo... funny story - Georgie from HeySewSister and I had never talked before but I was stocking her beautiful Put a Bow on It prints in my shop and was spending a lot of time staring at the bows and cutting orders from them. Then I got this crazy idea to do a collaboration print with Georgie, make it bow-themed but bring our aesthetics together and do it on organic cotton with botanical indigo 😍
I told Georgie my random idea, and wasn't sure what to expect but she was so excited and we became online pals and developed this print together. We realized our shops are like sister shops - hers is "across the pond" in the UK and mine is in the PNW of the USA but somehow, we have very similar aesthetics and are around the same age. We are both newbie / indie textile designers and bring in a very curated boutique collection of our favorite fabrics.
Bowie is inspired by the femininity of the bow motif and was launched into the world through Georgie and I's new friendship.

This silk is definitely a bit slippery and requires more care to work with (microtex needles in the machine, silk pins, rotary cutter and pattern weights, or scissors and pin the pattern to the fabric) but the result is stunning. How unique is a hand printed silk indigo?!
This silk has a side that feels really charmeuse-y/silky and that's on the back side. The front side where the fabric is printed feels like a rayon challis. So the silky side goes against your skin and the more matte side has the print. The silk voile has a stunning fluid drape and feels very luxurious to wear.
Shop owner Bethany made the Daily Dress by Cayden Naughton and used this silk for the bodice and the organic cotton Bowie for the skirt. Bethany lined the front bodice with a navy fabric for comfort (didn't want serged princess seams poking around in the bust) but didn't line the sleeves or back bodice.

*Block printing dyes have a slight smell that will fade with washing but if you would like to speed up the process, include a cup of white vinegar when you pre-wash. Indigo dyes are also notorious for bleeding so wash with like colors, especially for the first few washes.
block prints are also full of charming little imperfections as they are handmade
